it has been a really fulfilling week. i can see this will b a super long entry.
on sunday 28th may 2006, i went for DING's church's amazinGrace (: it was like madness! all over the island. huis, cais, gen and i are in one team and the other had yonghwee, james, kenneth and andy! we literally ran our hearts out like we were running for our lives. it was damn exciting esp the last run to the pit stop. this race made us do things like eating bread with wasabi, and climbing the spiderweb in Potong Pasir (which i have nvr dared to climb), eat ultra salty food and many many many many more. i really enjoyed the race and company as well! (: i'm thankful i had ran the race. now i have the tendency of running out of the MRT when the door opens because that was what we did everytime during the race. AND, the guys team came in 2nd! while girls team came in 3rd! altogether we won $80 Swensen's voucher! swensen's soon guys! ((: photos are not up yet so yepps.
then on monday 29th may to this afternoon, it was the MINDS CIP cam. ding, chase, jingxiu and i were rather intimidated when we arrived at the MINDS workplace. ding and chase paired up while jingxiu and i are not, but we're in the same grp though. and each pair had a trainee (a person from MINDS) to take care of. i must say it wasn't an easy job, at least for me, because mine is a little harder to handle. but thanks to help from ding and jingxiu, i managed it.
there were many things we did during the 3days 2nights. including the usual ice-breakers n all. but it was the responsibility and experience while interacting and taking care of those pple which i really appreciate the most. these pple are just so innocent. and though they may seem scary to interact with, they are really really just like anyone of us. they've entrusted themselves to us and we have learnt to learn from them. some of them have skills even we do not have, like specially superb art skills. oh n we went to the goat farm on the 2nd day too. the joy on some of their faces somehow just eliminates our tiredness and keeps us going. frustration tend to set in once in awhile and PATIENCE was tested. but it was all worthwhile. really. i am really really thankful for the experience. i've learnt SO MUCH i can't pen it down. and the theme song they chose to use for the camp was "if we hold on together" which means alot to me because it was the song i cried to in sec 4 Mission Day. and though i didn't cry this time but emotions were all inside me la. there are 2 main things i miss after the camp:
1. sleeping under a blanket of stars at the tennis court!
because the classrooms were so stuffy, ding, jingxiu and i decided to get our sleeping bags and go to the tennis court to sleep. it was so breezy and nice. and the sky was filled with millions of stars. super nice mygosh! we were sharing abt our thoughts as well as jokes like most of the time and whats more. this morning at 3am+ , ding and i saw a shooting star! yes! a shooting star here in singapore, in potong pasir! like amazing! 1st time i see a shooting star in singapore. i once saw it in NZ or Aust i can't rmb but yes! i hurry made a wish and it came true. so yes. i miss miss miss miss sleeping at the tennis courts! but i'm thankful i get to even do it. haha.
2. the MINDS people and times we spent with them.
yes. this may sound unlikely but i AM missing them already. i miss their innocence and their presence. especially the camp idol who danced his way thru the camp. he could shake his butt faster and better than any one of us here la! gosh! so funny! and there's jingxiu's trainee. she's darn cute too. her three favourite phrases are: "ouch!","sorry!" and her own name "soo khim". hahah! super funny! can't describe it here. it must be experienced urself. i can't stop laughing la! and my trainee's favourite phrase: "my birthday. today. 24yrs old". haha everyday's her birthday and everyday she's 24 when she's 34. haha! and ding's trainee too. oh gosh i miss so many of them! jingxiu and i might consider going back to visit them when we're free like after exams of something. haha.
3. everything abt the camp.
interacting with the MINDS people. interacting with trainers from MINDS. the laughing times with jingxiu, ding and chase (esp chase with his crap substitute theory for me. WHAT THE HELL! hahahah!). interacting with pple from other CCAs and classes. writing postcards n notes of affirmation. playing blow-wind-blow. having meals with them. aiyar just everything i did, everything i've learnt and experienced during the camp. the camp trainers from MINDS (mr julius chan, cherie, justicia, archie, our grp 5 trainer yi rong) and everybody. I MISS THE CAMP!
